Simple Gifts for String Quartet

This brand-new arrangement of Simple Gifts opens with a cello solo. The viola joins for a short duet before the other parts come in. The arrangement builds with the second violin and first violin each playing melody in the second statement of the theme.  The development has the upper strings in a fugue.  The final statement of Simple Gifts is over a quote from Bach’s cello suite in G major. Make the cellist and violist in your quartet happy! It will “come round right.”

The first performance was at Megan and Trevor’s wedding with violinists Clea Baumhofer and Holly Jiminez, violist Lorinda Troxler and cellist Nancy Connell.

Sheet music is available as a digital download. Listen to a performance here.
