Kraken’s Call for Strings and Shaker

Kraken’s Call is a new piece to explore 4 against 3 rhythm patterns. A flexible scoring piece, it can be played with any combination of violin, viola, cello and shaker. Part 1 for viola and cello will require shifting. The other parts can be played in first position.

Big thanks to my students who played sections for the virtual orchestra recording. Look for Sophie on violin playing part 1 and part 2, Kaylynn grooving with an improvised piano solo, and Joe and Mia vocalizing the Kraken. The puppeteering was done by Joe, while Mia captured the sock at sea.

The sheet music for Kraken’s Call is available as a digital download.
