Sunrise on the Beach

On Sunday, we watched the sunrise at the shore.

At first, it was barely peeking over the horizon.

The sun was amazingly spherical.

The seagulls were active in the early morning light.

It was amazing how far the reflection carried on the water.

I don’t often get to listen to the sound of the sea.

Or get buzzed by gulls in the early morning.

Fugue in C Major

In January I was asked to do an arrangement of JS Bach’s Fugue in C Major, BWV 953, for three hands at one piano. In the past week, I have revised the arrangement for string trio. I made two versions. One is for two violins and cello and the other  for violin, viola, and cello.

Cello Quartet

Three hours for a new cello quartet arrangement.  The plan is for it to be part of the lullaby recording.

Yankee Doodle

I finished the arrangements of Yankee Doodle. There is one for viola and piano, violin and piano, and cello and piano. The string parts are suitable for a first year player. The piano parts would work for a friend who has been playing a couple of years or a family member who studied as a child and hasn’t forgotten everything. It has a short pizzicato section in the middle. Especially when just learning, it is so satisfying to be able to play a song you recognize.
