Spring Recitals

The Spring Recitals will take place at the Vanport Presbyterian Church on Friday, May 20 at 7 PM and Saturday, May 21 at 2 PM. A short reception will follow each recital. Please bring a snack to share. You may choose which recital is better for your schedule. Please plan to arrive 20 minutes before your scheduled recital.

Place: Vanport Presbyterian Church

Beaver, PA 15009

Day: Friday, May 20 at 7 PM OR
Saturday, May 21 at 2 PM

Attire: Springtime Dressy

Bring: Instrument, Music and a Snack to Share

Arrive: 20 minutes early for tuning and seating

Stairway to Heaven

Frosty Moon

Imagine a solitary walk along a lake on a quiet January night. The frost crunches under your boots and your breath freezes in front of your eyes. Frozen branches reach from the hills into the clouds and the evergreens are blanketed with white. The moon plays hide and seek behind wispy clouds in the winter sky. The wind dances along the shore, rustling the cattails and blue rushes. A sonic landscape for string quartet and guzheng, “Frosty Moon” captures the dreams of air and mist. Listen for the conflict between the rhythmic energy and lyric passages in the stillness of the night sky. The tune weaves in and out between various combinations of players; everyone shares the melody as the piece unfolds. Performance time is approximately 8.5 minutes. The sheet music for “Frosty Moon” is available for digital download.
