Punxsutawney Phil

Saturday, we were in Punxsutawney, PA.  According to tradition, on February 2nd, Punxsutawney Phil appears to forecast the weather. If Phil sees his shadow, there are six more weeks of winter. If Phil does not see his shadow, spring is around the corner.

Anytime of year you can visit Phil. He has a special habitat at the library.

Phil's Burrow

All over town there are groundhogs.  Across the street there is a sculpture similar to Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood.

Look closely! Groundhogs!

There are more public art groundhogs.

Phillage

Phil'd With Service

Presby MacPhil

Each groundhog is has a unique sponsor. Phillage was sponsored by the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club. Phil’d With Service is located in front of his sponsoring organization, the Pantall Hotel. As you might guess, Presby MacPhil, was sponsored by the Presbyterian Church of Punxsutawney.

Freedom Phil

A Philomenal Place

Look at the view

It is an easy walk down the main street to find Freedom Phil, Look at the View, and A Philomenal Place groundhogs.

It's Springtime for Phantastic Phyllis

Phantastic Phyllis waves next to McDonalds.

The groundhog himself is immortalized on a small pedestal.
