Christmas Carol for SATB choir, keyboard and flute or violin

This version of Christmas Carol began with a prompt from the 12 Song Challenge. Last Christmas Eve, my sister Anna sang it during the service while I accompanied her on the organ. For those of you following the organ saga, it was the third or fourth service I played. I was very grateful to have her helping out! People enjoyed the Christmas Carol, so I created this version for choir with keyboard and flute or violin. It is now available as a digital sheet music download.

A beautiful and heartfelt setting of Christmas Carol by Sara Teasdale, capturing the quiet wonder, warmth, and reflective spirit of the Christmas season.

This expressive arrangement is scored for SATB choir, flute, and piano, creating a rich yet intimate musical texture. The flute adds a graceful, lyrical voice above the choir, while the piano provides a warm harmonic foundation that supports and enhances the poetry.

Inspired by Teasdale’s evocative text, the music pairs an expressive vocal setting with the poems intimate imagery, making this a lovely addition to holiday repertoire. Its elegant and contemplative character is well suited to Christmas concerts, church services, choral programs, and seasonal recitals.

Here’s a lyric video I created from the initial version.
