Big Rock Park is in New Brighton, PA. It is a small park running between the railroad tracks and the river. From Third Ave (Route 65) in New Brighton, turn toward the river on Eighth Street. Go under the railroad tracks and you will be in the park.

There are a few parking spaces at the entrance of the park.

We visited the park on the first warm day this spring. All the snow hadn’t melted, but we were comfortable with a sweatshirt and jacket.

Along the water’s edge there are places to watch the water and trains on the far side of the river. We had a very misty day …

with a pretty sky.

The fog rolled off the river and into the park.

We nearly had the park to ourselves.

The park also has a pavilion and a wooden dock overlooking the water.

We could barely see the bridge that goes across the river to Fallstown.

The water over the dam was pleasant to listen too. It was unique to see the fog above the dam and the spray once the water fell.

As we were leaving, the sun came out from behind the clouds and made the river sparkle.
