Sarabande by George Goltermann has been arranged as quintet for two violas, two celli, and one bass.
If your string ensemble doesn’t have a bass player, there is an arrangement of the Sarabande which can be performed with violists and cellists. A flexible scoring arrangement, the first part may be played with viola or cello. In order to cover the other four parts, 2 violists and 2 cellists are required. Therefore the Sarabande can be played with 3 violists and 2 cellists or 2 violists and 3 cellists.
The first performance of the Sarabande was for cello quintet.
All three versions are available as digital downloads.
Sarabande by Georg Goltermann has been arranged for Cello Quintet. The first performance was by the CelloBrationS at Anna and Brandon’s Wedding. Anna requested the Goltermann Romance for her processional music. The Sarabande was included in the prelude music.
The Sarabande is in g minor. The first part is the most difficult. The fourth and fifth part could be played without shifting.
If you would like to play the Sarabande, it is available as a digital download.
The Play-In Week CDs are finished. If you participated, you should be getting yours soon.
